The Wedding…
Mr & Mrs Burness – Devonshire Fell Hotel – Burnsall
The beautiful Devonshire Fell Hotel in the picturesque village of Burnsall was the venue for Jessica & Craig’s wedding. Set on the hillside the hotel has great views especially of the River Wharfe as it makes its way through the village and under the stunning five arch stone bridge.
As we are now in December we knew the weather would be unpredictable, and light would be an issue, but our happy couple were prepared for the worst – well the sun shone for about 30 seconds, and was followed by a cloudy and overcast sky which threatened rain…
The bride and her maids were upstairs in the bridal suite sipping champagne, and putting the finishing touches to their hair and makeup, while the boys were downstairs checking out the bar, so it was safe to say that everything was running just as planned!
Jess looked stunning in her wedding gown and as her veil was attached (securely), she looked every inch the beautiful bride. Craig was going to need those tissues…
A lovely ceremony filled with lots of joyful tears was followed by dinks and canapés with their guests. But not for long, as we were going to head down into the village for their personal photography: it isn’t really to going to rain is it?
So after a ride in the car, a jump over a wall, negotiating a narrow style, avoiding the sheep poo, and running from hissing geese we finally had our photos… oh and yes we needed the brollies because it poured down as well!

Arriving back at the hotel, none the worse for their time down by the riverbank, Jess and Craig spend a little time with their guests before it was soon time for the wedding breakfast. A lovely meal was enjoyed and was then followed by three great speeches… someone please pass Craig a tissue!
Cutting of the cake was followed by the first dance, a lovely way to end our time with the newlyweds.
We would like to thank all the staff at the Devonshire hotel for making Jess & Craig’s wedding perfect and for looking after us so well.
